Wallpaper and Decorative Painting -
Here the scoop – now don’t tell anyone - I went wallpaper shopping this week!
Wallpaper has been my arch enemy ever since I started painting. It became even worse when wall paper came out with “faux finish” and “stencil” copies – it really rotted my socks! So I gave wallpaper the cold shoulder. But recently I have been having second thoughts – I can no longer deny the absolutely beautiful and creative wallpapers that are out there.
I visited Blue Mountain Wallpaper and Crown Wallpaper and Fabrics over the last few days and I was very impressed. A lot of the wallpapers I loved were inspired by decorative paint finishes ( who can blame them) and the textured finishes on the wallpaper had me sitting there with my mouth hanging open. They had to gave me green tea so my mouth wouldn’t dry out. The crystal beading was stunning and the metallic and natural design lines are out of this world. It was more like art than wallpaper. The advantages of wallpaper are that they can be beaded, covered in leaves and put up by a good paper hanger in about a day. The advantages of Decorative Paint Finishes is that they are more customizable, no seams, and can be easily painted over when its time to change. I think combining them is the best of both worlds (to quote HM). Accent walls in lively or dramatic paper and a soft finish on the rest of the wall to bring the room together – the finishing touch….
So I made a decision right there and then…
Paint A Lifestyle is going to sell wallpaper too!
Now everyone’s walls can be unique and custom. Timing is cut in half and you can have the WOW factor that speaks to so many. What an unbeatable combination – kinda like ” you got chocolate in my peanut butter” ! But less fattening.
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
Love
Barb
