Butcher Blocks

Renovations don’t run in a straight line.

To say I love the look and feel of a butcher block in a kitchen is an understatement! It adds colour and depth and it makes a kitchen feel authentic. Now this is not mine but the feel is the same.  My base is green and the floor is darker. but look at the yummy counter top!

This is the picture we sent to the manufacturer. I love the feel and the freedom to cut where I want, it is easy to clean, dishes don’t clang on it when you put them down, and it reminds me of my cottage.

Does anyone now how to put those arrows on your photos to point out what you are talking about??? Help me if you can…The block is on the bottom left hand corner…

Butcher blocks get more beautiful with scratches, stains, age and use.  Unlike most counters.

In my kitchen, there will be room for a breakfast bar for the kids, as we reconfigured the main floor to remove the “eat-in” portion of the kitchen and make the dining room our main table – now we will use it more than twice a year at  Thanksgiving and Christmas!

So you saw the butcher block above…lovely, clam, woodsy, classic…everything was coming to fruition!  My kitchen was going to be COMPLETE!  Finished, done, over with, beautiful, functional!

It was being delivered the day before my birthday and I was ecstatic!

We opened the truck, I practically ran out to see it, I was planning on cooking something that needed carving or cutting or pounding!!!

What I saw blew me away, I could not believe it, I was stunned!

So we sent it back….alas it was not to be!

The End

Love Barb

P.S.  My eyes hurt just looking at it…sad, sad, sadness…Ok I’m over it – On to the next….
