The Island is Beautiful!

I have a beautiful cottage on Georgian Bay. My family has been going there for over 50 years now.
Recently my Mom and our extended family went on boat trip to The Pine Islands for a picnic. She sent me these lovely pictures and I was excited to hear that this grove of pines are the same grove A.Y. Jackson painted! The some of the original pines have fallen but they have been left in peace.
The group of Seven painted all over the Islands on Georgian Bay. My Grandfather and A.Y Jackson went fishing when they were younger and my family still has a pen sketch by him of my Poppy fishing – surrounded with fly’s! I don’t have a picture of it but will attach it to this posting in the future.
Another grove on the Island.

I understand why they were so inspired.

I have traveled to many Islands on the bay but haven’t had the privilege to stand on this Island, swim in its coves and paint on its shores.

Perhaps in the fall…
I am hoping to paint a mural in one of my schools in the Group of Seven style – I think I will choose A.Y Jackson and Pine Island. Perhaps I’ll even paint a man fishing…with fly’s swarming around him….

My Nana, Joan Robinson owned Pine Island for most of her life time…and donated it to National Trust upon her death in 1982…she never wanted any one person to build a cottage on it and made sure it would be forever free for all to picnic, paint, fly kites, fish, etc…for many years to come…thanks for your beautiful post…love your photos and memories…hope to get there again one day, too…!!!
